We had a fantastic time at Bay Creek. Good stalls, decent turn-out (fence a bit rickety but serviceable), great level site. Chuck and Linda are very helpful and friendly. I was here in Sept and liked it so much that we came back a month later. Trails are well marked and WONDERFUL.

We had camped at Double M several years ago for a couple of days; it was a work in progress. Heath has really improved the campground and the trails. Trails are well-marked, pretty, and varied. Lots of choices. The new stalls at the top of the hill are small but nice. We didn't use the shower house so can't comment on that. Restaurant had good home cooking. Heath and his wife are on the right track; he is very personable and helpful. We'll be back, and can highly recommend the campground.

We've ridden from 4 camps in Shawnee, and wanted to try HK trails this time. The owner, JoJo, is pretty brusque, and opinionated, which is ok. I'm not interested in being best friends. A charge for maps. Showerhouse and bathroom is really dirty, with no soap or paper towels. REALLY dirty, and wasn't cleaned the 4 days we were there. We somehow got parked in the "quiet" part of camp, but it was in between two camp roads, and the traffic in and out was constant, including some sort of truck chase or race in the middle of the night, and drunks riding around in the dark. The campsites in the open field in the back were Party Central...loud music and a lot of drinking. So glad we weren't back there. Now for the trails...really nice riding, altho it had rained, and continued to rain off and on, so they were muddy and a often treacherous. JoJo's trail recommendations were a bit "off," and she told us several times that one good thing about High Knob is that this area has no mud. We rode thru hock-deep mud a large part of every day. I'm sure the trails wouldn't have been so challenging in dry weather. Locals did warn us of bee season...said they're vicious and early in that part of Shawnee. Great stalls for the horses. Over all, we had a good time, but the camp really, really needs some work, especially cleaning the bathrooms, and hey, put some soap in there, would ya??!!

Great campground. This is a really nice place. Wonderful stalls, nice sites. Terrific restrooms/showers. Some folks complain about the barn being a bit far from the sites, but heck, most of us need a little exercise. I don't see it as a problem at all. Trails are well-marked, but McCoy Hollow has a couple of very difficult spots on it. You do get weary of riding Wet Prong each time to get to other trails, but at least it's an interesting trail. The only camp problem we saw was the gaited riders coming into and out of camp at warp speed.

Camped and rode at EFS for 4 days this past week. Campground was clean, well kept, roomy. Stalls are great. We were in barn D, so it was a new one. Stalls are 10x10, which is a good size. Trails are well marked. Most we rode were easy to moderate. We rode one that was more challenging, and I heard from other riders that there were some challenging trails. Staff was helpful and friendly. We'll be back when the leaves are off the trees so we can see even more of the beautiful overlooks.
